The truth about WAKA WAKA World Cup 2010 Song.

“Waka Waka” became the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. If you look on the Internet, you can read that Shakira wrote it. Well, that’s not entirely true. The original “Waka Waka” song was recorded by the Cameroonian band Golden sounds in 1986. It was a soldier song called “Zangalewa” which enjoyed huge success across the country. Originally, the song was dedicated to African shooters of the Second World War, most of the members of the musical group themselves were in Cameroon army.

After the song was announced as the FIFA World Cup’s anthem, the Golden Sounds band members heard it on the radio. In an interview with the Cameroon Tribune band leader Ze Bella states that he is very honored that Shakira borrowed his song, but he still expects royalties. Eventually, the band got an undisclosed amount of money.

Regardless of whether you are famous now or not, make sure you protect your copyright and UDIAR will help you with that. You never know what will happen next and whose song will be the next anthem.
