The works of Bernard Shaw go into the public domain
Since January 1, 2021, all the works of Bernard Shaw published during his lifetime have passed into the public domain.
The outstanding Irish playwright and novelist, Nobel Prize winner in literature and one of Ireland’s most famous literary figures Bernard Shaw died in November 1950, and 2020 was the last year during which the rights to his works were legally protected.
As intellectual work moves into the public domain, any publisher certified by the national government has the right to release the work. In this connection, a wave of new editions of Bernard Shaw’s works is expected.
The works of Bernard Shaw can be freely transferred to the theatrical stage, adapted for the production of films, TV series, etc.
