Work type: Literary works

The history of copyright began with the copyright protection of literary works. It doesn’t matter whether you write books and novels or articles and working papers, it is equally important to protect any kind of intellectual property. You don’t want to wake up one day and discover that someone has published your dissertation under his own name or that song lyrics you composed were sold to a music group.

The number one rule for each author is to provide protection of texts.

You can protect texts of any kind. Literary works include books, anthologies, journal and newspaper articles, reports, conference papers, working papers, dissertations, letters, speeches, emails, novels, poetry, song lyrics, single pages of text, tables and compilations. The owner of the copyright of a literary work has the exclusive right to make and distribute copies, to publicly perform and to create derivative works. In addition, it can be a source of income for you.

In order to receive official confirmation of authorship, you need to use the deposit service. Go to UDIAR main page, create an account, fill out the required information and upload your work. After that you will receive a certificate which is valid in all countries that signed the Berne Convention. Registration on UDIAR also provides access to the marketplace, where you can monetize your works by providing licenses for use and distribution or acquire rights to works of other authors.
